We are a Non-Profit organization that supports disadvantaged children and communities in Kenya.

Our Projects

We have a holistic approach to education! Our focus goes beyond providing scholarships and school supplies to emphasize on the whole person – physically, intellectually and emotionally.
Our programmes include educational support, a community library, digital skills training, distribution of sanitary towels and psycho social support by way of counseling and mentorship.

MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDER

Thank you for visiting the Baobab Family page!

The dream to start the Baobab Family started when I first visited Kenya in 1994. A few planned weeks turned into two years. While in Kenya i did not only get to know the sunny sides of the country but also found many people suffering from the consequences of poverty – particularly children.

I wanted to make a difference! My wife Halima who is a Kenyan and I bought a piece of land and built a home to house street children. During the same time, we also established a charitable organization in Germany “Baobab Family e.V.” to mobilize resources and funds to support the needy and vulnerable children in Kenya.

Our mission is to build diverse, inclusive and sustainable communities by supporting as many children as possible to have access to a high quality education.
